Cancun 3 Times in One Year!

Balcony Secretes The Vine Cancun

We’ve been to Bora Bora Tahiti, Hawaii, Aruba, Jamacia, Virgin Islands but not Cancun until this year. We LOVED it so much we went back a second time….and then a third. Yes, we went from never being there to going 3 times in a calendar year. WOW, we’ve been missing out. You can read about our most recent Cancun trip below.

Video Vlog of the most current 2016 trip:

We flew Interjet which we had heard mostly great things, but were still a little hesitant. They put our fears aside from the moment we walked up to the ticket counter. No on in line. Our flight from LAX to CUN was partly empty, the leg room was equal to United’s first class from LAX to HOUSTON. The flight attendants give you sandwiches and other snacks with drinks and free booze if you want. They don’t have personal in flight entertainment, they do have screens that pop down from the ceiling so everyone is watching the same thing. We knew about this ahead of time and had movies on our iPad. Flight home was even better, I asked at the check in counter if the flight was full, I was told no it wasn’t. So I asked for Josh & I to have our own row. Not a problem. Interjet was cheaper by around $300, it was a direct flight, everyone was very nice. We WILL be flying them again. Also, each passenger can check 2 bags each, and you can pick your seat for FREE. Need I say more? I think not.

Interjet economy seats (lots of leg room)

We stayed at Secrets the Vine, and LOVED it. We booked with expedia and we’re given an upgraded room with a better room and extra snacks in the room. This was a freebie thing. We didn’t pay extra, although it could be from the multiple trips we’ve booked with expedia this year. We would not recommend paying extra for this service, as we didn’t think a person would get their monies worth. The view was great check it out: . The food was good our favorite restaurant was the Italian (Nebbiolo). There were plenty of chairs by the pool and the pool service was good, not great.

Tips for staying here:

~ As with most beach places when getting in a taxi, negotiate and agree to the fare before hand. One night we took a taxi from town back to the hotel, the taxi driver was trying to swindle more money out us. As we were arguing with him a hotel employee came to the cab and told us just pay him the amount agreed upon and then walk away its fine to do that. So that’s what we did and the taxi driver left. The employee apologized over and over to us, and said they don’t like it when the taxi drivers do that because it gives Cancun a bad name.

~request a high floor on the opposite side of the Hard Rock Hotel better view. You can see both the lagoon side and beach side of the hotel zone.

~Spa was great, steam room with hot and cold tubs, it is $$$ though

~if you’re going with a large party make dinner reservations ahead of time to make sure that you’ll get a table and not have to wait 2 plus hours for a table. One night our friend ended up giving the host $100 to seat our large party in a private room. It worked and we didn’t have to wait, but its an ALL INCLUSIVE we shouldn’t have to do that.

~we bring lots of dollar bills and hand them out to the workers when drinks are brought or after breakfast. We find that the same staff will WANT to wait on us, and go way above and beyond to make our vacation the best by making sure we have enough drinks and snacks while pool side, or getting our favorite foods in certain restaurants etc..
